Meeting Immediate Needs With Dignity

Children entering foster care often need clothing, shoes, hygiene products, and everyday essentials immediately.

Through the Denim Drive, children receive brand-new items that help meet those immediate needs while reducing additional stress during an already difficult transition.

Many children also receive personalized shopping experiences with approved caseworkers, allowing them to choose clothing that fits properly, reflects their personality, and helps them regain a sense of normalcy, independence, and confidence.

Financial contributions also allow the Foundation to respond quickly to emergency needs throughout the year, ensuring children receive support when it is needed most.

How Your Support Helps

The Denim Drive is supported through both in-kind donations and financial contributions from individuals, businesses, schools, organizations, and community partners across Northern Nevada.

Donated clothing, shoes, hygiene products, and essential items are distributed through:

Unlike many seasonal donation drives, the Denim Drive operates year-round to meet the ongoing needs of foster youth throughout Northern Nevada.

Year-Round Denim Drive Campaigns

While the Reno Rodeo Foundation’s primary community-wide Denim Drive takes place each year from May 1 through June 30, organizations don’t have to wait until spring to get involved.

Businesses, schools, civic groups, churches, service organizations, and community partners can host customized Denim Drive campaigns during any month of the year.

Whether you’re planning a one-day employee service project, a week-long collection drive, or a month-long community campaign, we’ll help create a campaign that fits your organization while making a direct impact for local children entering foster care.

Why We Moved Our Community Campaign

For many years, the Foundation’s primary Denim Drive campaign took place during the holiday season.

As we listened to foster families, caseworkers, and community partners, one message became clear: children entering foster care need support throughout the entire year, not only during the holidays.

In response, the Reno Rodeo Foundation transitioned its primary community-wide campaign to May and June while expanding year-round partnership opportunities.

This approach helps address critical needs during a time of year when fewer large-scale donation drives are taking place and allows organizations to choose a campaign schedule that best aligns with their employees, customers, and community engagement goals.

Impact

Since 2006, the Denim Drive has helped provide clothing, essentials, confidence, and dignity to children entering foster care across Northern Nevada.

These numbers represent more than donations. They represent children who were given the opportunity to begin a difficult new chapter with comfort, choice, and hope.
